How Much Weight Can You Lose To Help Prevent Diabetes?

In an article from the San Diego Times-Tribune, Dr. Rhonda Bentley-Lewis says that patients with pre-diabetes can lose weight to bring their numbers down and increase their chances of not getting diabetes. Dr. Bentley-Lewis says that she tells patients that if they lose 5 to 7 percent of their body weight, that’s just 10 to 14 pounds for someone who is 200 pounds, that, combined with an increase in activity, can hold their numbers in check.
