Welcome New Member, Claudio Caprio
We are always excited to welcome new members to our Club. Please extend best wishes to Claudio as he brings his excitement and creative ideas to the group.
Claudio Caprio received his B.S. and M.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Rhode Island, with research in the area of reverse osmosis. Claudio retired in September 2011 with over 38 years of service from BAE Systems and its legacy companies (IBM, Loral and Lockheed Martin). During his tenure he held a number of middle-level management positions, including Manager of Technology Products and Business Manager at BAE Systems, Inc. for all Civil and NASA Missions focusing on Radiation Hardened Space Electronics.
After retirement, Claudio chose to fulfill a longtime dream of working at Goddard Space Flight Center. He joined the management team at MEI Technologies, working on a contract to provide electrical systems services to the Engineering Directorate.
Claudio also supports three Industrial Advisory Boards at Virginia Tech: Material Science & Engineering, Micro-Electronics and Space@VT, and focuses on supporting the need to grow those areas and providing lectures on Program Management and Interacting with the Customer.
His wife Kim, who also recently retired from 29 years of government service as Assistant Inspector General for the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, is currently supporting the Special Inspector General for Troubled Asset Recovery Program as a Assistant Deputy Inspector General. Claudio and Kim currently reside in Norfolk Virginia as of August 2013 to the East Beach Community. Presently both enjoy giving back to their community supporting local charities and East Beach Committees. Their daughter Lauren (B.S. Marketing Management, Class of 2007) and her husband Devin (B.S. Management – EIT, Class of 2007) currently reside in Chesapeake Virginia, where Devin, (Ltd CMDR, USN) is a naval aviator assigned to USN Bush and Lauren works in the Ship Yard Division Finance on forward business planning and Business Development for BAE Systems, Inc. They have two young daughters.
